Problems After Installation On Amd Fx.
1 1

Question

Hi, I've just successfully installed OSX 10.8.5 on AMD FX PC, but I can't boot it up without having USB drive plugged in.

Also, it only boots with following flags: amdfx (or amd) npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No -x -v

without these flags, it just restarts, does not writing anything in log.

Can someone point me what should I do next to make this work properly? Thanks!

HIS Radeon HD 7950

AMD FX 4x (don't remember correct value and can't get it for now)

RAM: 16 GB

For any additional information let me know.

Regards.

EDIT: here's full list of computer info (at least what needed):

HIS Radeon HD 7950

AMD FX 4170 Quad Core 4.20 GHz

SanDisk SSD 256 GB

these files are hidden so change view setting to show hidden files or just copy you will prompt to overwrite file..

Sorry, I have to re-create USB because now it can't install network kext. (I tried manually from USB, copy Network.pkg and install but still no result).

I'll try that and will post back results.

Regards.

EDIT:

same problem mentioned in thread "White screen after successful installation".

I tried all kernels that's listed at download section which supports AMD but none of them worked, just having white screen with a cursor, nothing else.

Also I can't boot it up without having USB (boot loader seems not working but /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist file exists).

I've followed default installation steps except I removed laptop kexts on installation (other options seemed OK).

EDIT: I also tried this kernel, which is supposed to work perfectly but I can't even turn it on even in safe mode, need to reinstall OS again... http://www.osx86.net/file/3716-1085-amd-kernel/

Isn't there ANY KIND OF TUTORIAL how to install kexts and stuff like this without such problems? I'm going crazy! reinstalling 10-11 times already.

Any ideas?

Regards.

so i did it that way and for me it works

perhaps.. with some luck it works for you too :)

- i used the bronya kernel (so i replaced the normal mach_kernel with the new file)

- i booted up the clover bootloader

- then, while loading, i pushed "2" so i got to the chameleon bootloader

- after that i used the bootflags "-v -x kernel=amdfx GraphicsEnabler=No" (but -v is not necessary and -x is making the graphics buggy)

- then i booted up the os and it worked...

did you do it the same way?

Dude, -x means safe mode and I can't boot up without safe mode. I want to boot without -x option and to have normal graphics cause it only shows 7 MB (as I'm guessing it's integrated one).

Regards.
