What are your exact specs? How much RAM do you have? If it's an early 2006 (Core Duo) model it will likely not run. If it's a late 2006 (Core 2 Duo), from what I've gathered, should be doable as it is 64-bit.

I installed Mountain Lion (10.7) on my late 2006 Macbook using MLPostFactor method and it runs perfectly. Check your requirements, if it's a Macbook 2,x (mine's a 2,1) should run fine. You could try it, if it does Mountain Lion maybe it could do Mavericks: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1325709

This video guide was also helpful:

Note: If you use this, you'll need to tinker with Disk Utility after installation, because it won't let you resize normally. Let me know if you need help with this.

Haven't had much luck finding a method for Mavericks 10.9, though I did find this guide for Yosemite 10.10. I'll try it and report back.

Also, when googling stuff for your macbook, I suggest you use " -pro " after last word so it eliminates results for Macbook Pro models (which seem to constitute the majority of google hits).

Good luck!
