Changing smbios in chameleon, or OS X installer, what it will do?
2 2

Question

Mavericks installer has a Customize menu, where you can set various options just before install.

And I would like to know, if changing smbios settings (from macpro 3.1 to macpro 5.1, or even mac mini, for example), changes something else, except identification of my PC in OS X. Are there changes for hardware recognition, or other OS X functions?

Can this change of smbios somehow help with hardware problems or detection?

its's fully depend what hardware you ,smbios make OSX reacts like real mac smbios plays a big role in it .macpro is universal any and every system is comfortable with this but for better results you need to use relevant to hardwares ,use Chameleon wizard has options which will show you full details of SMBIOS ,and you will know what you need to choose .

Essentially, What Deepak said. Also, when you go into About this mac it identifies which model it is. So if you slelected Mac pro 6,1, it would show a mid 2010 mac pro
