Dell XPS 15 L502X Graphics problem (Artifacts)

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

I've successfully installed Mavericks but getting graphics artifacts,

How to get rid of it? Why are they coming anyway?

Both HD3000 & Nvidia GT540M are detected and I'm getting graphics acceleration too but due to artifacts can't do anything....

Plz Help...!

@pranay619 As previously stated numerous times, switchable graphics one of the things OSX can't handle (in this case the HD 3000 and the NVIDIA GT540M). You must focus on getting only the HD 3000 working because most of the times, only integrated graphics are going to work. For a start try removing NVidia and ATI kexts and boot with IGPEnabler=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No

Additionally if you are still getting artifacts/ weird lines, you might want to consider injecting your EDID.

Hello guys,

I installed 10.9.3 on dell xps 15 l502x i5 2450m & 540m. I removed all kexts other than hd3000. I patched DSDT for battery with Rehab. I installed all-in-one solution for Audio.

I am facing 2 problems one with built-in Microphone and other artifacts. I am getting QE/QI and HD 3000 graphic is working well with native resolution 1366 x 768. I noticed artifacts are generated when temp raise. Starting of laptop for about 30 mins or so artifacts begin showing up.

Please need help for both issues.

Thanks in advance.

    • Hello everyone,  I'm trying to install High Sierra (with AMD support) on my AMD 4500m Lenovo G505s laptop. When booting from Clover in EFI with i get some really fast screen log then the pc reboots. Now, i know there isn't a way you could help me without some info/logs, unless i'm missing a major malfunction known on these kind of laptops, so, do you know a way i could prevent it from rebooting in order to at least understand what is causing this problem? Do you think even trying to put OSX on this laptop is worth it? Thank you.
    • Hello, i am trying to install High Sierra on my ASUS X75VB but i am getting multiple errors with the ACPI.
I believe it is CPU related?

      Mainboard: HM76 (X75VB SOCKET 0)
CPU: Intel Core i5 3320m (Not the original CPU of this laptop!)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000 & NVIDIA 2GB Geforce 740M
      RAM: DDR3 8GB
      Storage: 120GB SSD (SATA-2)

I have used the DSDT.aml & SSDT.aml from the following resource:

My config.plst can be found here:

      Thanks in advance!

    • I have Yosemite Zone working on Virtualbox fine.  After downloading High Sierra Zone there is only a dmg and no ISO.  I tried converting the dmg with hdiutil but it goes to 8GB and I get "no bootable media" in Virtualbox.  Has anyone been able to do this yet?
