[Success] Mavericks 10.9.4, ASRock z77 Pro, GTX 650ti, GT520, i5-3570k

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be helpful for other people to post my experience, and just a note this is my first hackintosh. I also read up on a lot of guides, and don't remember all of them, so sorry in advance for not giving you credit.

My PC setup that I used to run Windows 7:

ASRock Z77 Pro 3

Intel i5-3570k 3.4 GHz

Gigabyte GTX 650Ti 2GB

Gigabyte GT 520 1GB

So here's a guide on how I got 10.9.4 working on my rig from clean Mavericks 10.9.0 , I doubt I'm doing it perfectly so you if you see something pointless please reply back.

First: ASRock z77 Pro3 bios 1.90 patched

Here's a direct link to the firmware

Second: Install Mavericks

The Unibeast way...

Third: On Restart start system with "-s" boot flag

The updates kept giving me a white screen so I followed this guide from this post.

reboot with -s boot-flag
then type
these and press enter
fsck -fy
mount -uw /
grafix backup all
After the restart you should be able to boot into Mavericks without any boot flags.
Fourth: Installed Updates, one by one. (Not sure if it'll work with just the 10.9.4 combo, I didn't try)
Download the updates: 10.9.1, 10.9.2 (not the combo), 10.9.3 (not the combo), 10.9.4 (combo)
When you restart, make sure you run the "-x" boot flag, especially for the 10.9.3 update.
Fifth: Kext Wizard + Terminal + Multibeast 6.4.2
Using the Kext Wizard, in the Installation tab, drag and drop using the Finder, all the kexts from "Backup/Kexts/*" and "Backup/Graphic-Kexts/nVidia/*" in the box under "Select kexts to install" . (These are the kexts that "grafix" backed up).
I also removed the HDGraphics and Bluetooth kexts cause I think it was causing me problems. http://www.tonymacx86.com/418-os-x-10-9-3-update.html?p=811107#comment_811107.
It's not exactly as that guide, but in Terminal I entered:
Type: sudo -s
Type: sudo cd /System/Library/Extensions
Type: sudo mkdir backup
Type: sudo mv AppleIntelHD* AppleIntelF* IOBluetooth* backup/
Type: sudo touch ../Extensions
Using Kext Wizard, in the Maintenance tab, select "System/Library/Extensions" and click the "Execute" button.
Using Multibeast do this:
Now restart and if you're religious give a little prayer. Hopefully you now have your new Hackintosh ready to go!

    • Hello! Yesterday I successfully installed Yosemite (Yosemite Zone distro) on my laptop (Sony Vaio FIT 15E with an i3-3217U). The only thing that doesn't work is the wifi card (BCM43142). I found in my house another wireless card, AzureWave AW-NB047H. Is this wireless card compatible with macOS?   Sorry for my bad english and thanks in advance. ~IOStream

    • Hello,
On High Sierra 10.13.1 under VMWare.
I install Final Cut Pro 10.4 when running got this error:
This graphics configuration does not support hardware acceleration, which is required to run Final Cut Pro.
My GPU is: AMD Radeon R7 240 but show on Hachintosh About : Graphics: Display 128 MB. Thank you for help.
    • I got same error 4 years later. On High Sierra. What's the solution? What you suggested doesn't work. Why does this happen? Any ideas?
    • Hi there. I have the exact laptop and was able to install MacOS HS on it and boot up. I followed tonymaxx086 instructions but.... the following are NOT working as yet.... 1) Keyboard and trackpad (although usb kb and mouse work)
      2) Backlite control (screen appears to be in battery mode - dimmed)
      3) Sound
      4) Wifi
      5) battery? I am able to access the internet and browse ok using Safari. I want to resolve #1 and 2 before I resolve the rest, but I am having an issue to determine what kexts to inject. There is no cross reference to this MOBO and I am not familiar with it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks....
