  1. I've been looking high and low for gtx 970 drivers for 10.9.0 niresh. Finally I've found these: Unfortunately they didn't work for me. Here's what I did: 1. I typed boot flags nv_disable=1 at the Chameleon boot loader. 2. Installed these drivers. 3. I added the bootflags "nvda_drv=1" at the extras and restarted. 4. After I started with verbose mode it crashed at something involving the hard drive that I can't associate with the graphics in any way. 5. I booted with nv_disable=1 - it started. My first question is: How to make those drivers work. I tried everything on the web involving bootflags, but without any success. And my second question is: I will update to 10.9.2 or 10.9.5, up to everything that will make my gtx 970 to work with the drivers made for the updated version from nvidia. I just don't know how to do these updates. What I did when I tried to update to 10.9.2 is: 1. I installed the combined update. 2. I used the Kext Magician to restore the kexts. I don't think I did any of this right though. I tried another way that restarts the machine and installs the update and then I had to boot with the installation drive, with the terminal I installed some kexts that I configured before that with TransMac. They should replace those in /System/Library/Extensions/. No success there. I really have no idea how to make those updates to work successfully. Can anybody help me?? I working with Asus M5A78-M LX Plus MSI gtx 970 4GD5T OC AMD FX 6300
  2. Updating Niresh Mavericks from 10.9.0 to 10.9.5 These methods are tested and verified on my AMD Desktop (Asus M5A97, AMD FX 6100 & ATI Radeon HD 6850) and Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Laptop (3rd Gen i3, Intel HD 4000). Both systems now run on 10.9.5. You can download the Mavericks 10.9.5 Combo Update from this link : If you simply run the updater it will remove all the customization done by the Niresh-Mavericks installer. So first, we need to make sure all our necessary files and kexts are backed up. Before we proceed, make sure you have the Niresh-Mavericks bootable USB or DVD. To be on the safe side, I would recommend creating a Time Machine backup, so that you can restore your working version if something goes wrong. Take a screenshot of Org.chameleon.Boot.plist tab of Chameleon Wizard, just in case if some settings has been disabled by the update. * Open Terminal from Applications and the login as root user by entering following command. sudo i Enter Password. * Next step is making a copy of the Mavericks kernel. To make it easier to understand I'm going to call my Mavericks installed partition as " MAVERICKS " Change " MAVERICKS " with name of your OSX partition when you enter the commands. cp /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel_ok Please check the spaces after cp and between mach_kernel and /Volumes, it is very important. * Now we must make a copy of Extensions folder. cp R /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions_ok Please check the spaces between cp & R & /Volumes and also between /Extensions & /Volumes Now that we have backed-up all our settings and kexts, its time to install the Mavericks 10.9.5 Combo Update. Run update package and the installer will take up to 10 minutes to install all new updates and it will reboot. Connect your bootable Mavericks USB or DVD and boot into the installer using these flags. xpcm-free -v You will be booted into the Install Screen. Select Continue, and click on Utilities in the toolbar and select Terminal. Run following commands to restore working kernel and extensions. * Here we rename the updated kernel. mv /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel_bad * Now we are going to replace it with our working mach_kernel backup file. cp /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel_ok /Volumes/MAVERICKS/mach_kernel * Now we are renaming the Extensions folder. mv /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions_bad * Now we are going to replace it with our own copy of Extensions mv /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions_ok /Volumes/MAVERICKS/System/Library/Extensions Type exit, hit Enter and close the Terminal. Now remove USB/DVD and reboot the system. Now select your Mavericks installed partition and add the following boot flags if required. -x -v -f Enter your account password and login to your desktop. Open Kext Wizard from the Applications folder. Use it to Repair Permissions and Rebuild System Caches. It will take a while to complete. After it is done, open Chameleon Wizard and check whether any options has been unselected in Org.chameleon.Boot.plist tab. If some options and removed, check them again using the screenshot and save them.. From the first tab of Chameleon Wizard, select Built-In and Boot0hfs and click execute. (Installing the boot loader again may not be necessary, but I'm not taking any chances.) Now restart your Desktop/Laptop and if you are lucky and followed the steps exactly you will be booted into OSX Mavericks 10.9.5. Click the Apple Logo and select About This Mac to check whether the Update worked or not. Now you can remove the bad kernel and extensions folder, they are not needed anymore. [ Note : iOS Developers can use Xcode 6 with 10.9.3 Update, Yosemite is not required. And you can keep your copy of Xcode 5 as well, just rename it as Xcode 5.) Credits : soulskater (Its his guide, I simply made it a bit more easier to understand) Please point out if there are any errors in this Guide.

  4. Hello all, I've recently installed Niresh's 10.9.0 on Asus A88X-Plus mono with AMD A4-7300 APU and Gigabyte HD 7850 Graphics card. I've used DSDT injection and modified AMDRadeonX4000 and AMD7000Controller kexts with 0x68191002 to reflect the model number. System sees the card fine, loads correct frame buffer information, but performs very badly. In fact its on the level of 7-10MB frame buffer which was there before the card. Anyone has an idea what could be causing this?

  6. The first time I installed Niresh automatically installed required graphics kexts, I ran into an issue with an automatic update and reinstalled. Now Niresh did not find any kexts automatically and multibeast does not include the graphics drivers needed. I am stuck at 1024x768 and there is terrible screen tearing and graphics glitches. I can boot without any arguments but I have used multibeast to install recommended kexts. In case this helps: CPU=i5 4670k GPU=GTX 760 gigabyte Mobo=GA-H87-D3h Memory=16GB ddr3 1333 G-skill storage=120GB sandisk SSD Niresh OSX 10.9.0

  10. Few Issues After Install

After 16hours of different attempts of installing OSX Maverick I have it booting and working. There are a couple of things I can not work out how to do to have a perfect install. 1) CDROM (Bluray Burner HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20L) does not work. The open close icon next to the clock and volume at the top works but when a disk is inserted there seems to be a lot of disk activity but I can not access the disk in the OS. There seems to be no device names in /dev that represents a cdrom, dvd etc. 2) Rebooting and shutting down does not complete. The monitor goes into power save mode but the computer will not turn off or reboot. Thanks for your help. I am a software developer and long time Linux and Win user, but I am a OSX n00b

So I am running my TV as a monitor and it's hooked up to my 6970 via HDMI, my problem is, to get it to work properly at 60hz I have to put my Pixel Format to 4:4:4 PC Standard Full RGB, via Catalyst Control Center, so when I boot into Mavericks, my screen is not scaled to the bezel and I get laggy graphics and sorta blurry UI, can anyone tell me what's going on or how to fix this issue, I'm still having trouble finding the right Kext for 6970. Thanks
